               News from Kristen BarlowSept 2008

My dear Church Family,                                                                                 8/18/08

Awpoyo!  I hope this letter finds you all very well in the States!  I have arrived in Gulu and am safe and settled at the ChildVoice International (CVI) Center next to Lukodi IDP, in northern Uganda.  It was quite a trip finding my way, but with the Lord as my guide (and a few angels of protection) I made it safely!  I have already received so many blessing as the Lord reminds me everyday why I am here and just how much this small person can offer through Him!

After the site orientation I was blown away with the development and growth of the center.  Not only has CVI seen great physical accomplishments and advances within the facility, but the amazing progress of each girl can only be from God. However, continuous development requires support in many areas.  Therefore lesser qualified interns (such as myself) who know little to nothing about heading up large scale agricultural projects or paper making for income generation purposes are quick to become students again!

This leads me to a few immediate requests of prayer:

                             A New Life

 -          Embracing the accommodationso   Living in a huto   Appreciating cold bucket showers-          Connecting with staff and studentso   Building vital relationships for effective teaching and learning -          Health & Strength: o   I’ve had few issues so far, hope it stays that way for a while!-          Wisdom:o   How to effectively teach and be taughto   Picking up new skills, i.e. paper/card making; farm management  -          Growing daily in His Grace!

As I end, I feel the need to encourage your support by sharing the amazing experiences I’ve had with the CVI staff thus far.  Not only do they all possess an amazing passion for these girls, but even greater is their love and desire to serve Christ.  And I believe it is because of there dedication the Lord’s blessings can be seen in this place!

Lastly, I must thank you all for the amazing support that was shown in making this trip possible!  Continued prayers are very much appreciated as the project can only carry on with His grace and guidance!

     a child,

Middle of the Earth Ecuador
Trip to help build a fence around the Liebenzel property in the town of Lita. While in Ecuador we worked alongside nationals and some Awa people. the fence helped to establish boundary's and keep dogs in and those intent on mischief out. Dave Nelson led this project with Kevin Bruce, our resident missionary in Ecuador. Below are some pictures of the team at work on site.
