Brig & Chris Judy (NAIM) are working alongside the believers (Plains Cree) of Jacob Bear Community Church. We average between 15-40 people on Sundays and enjoyed as many as 60 out at our Christmas services. We are involved in outreach by way of Bible Studies (in the church and in homes), attending public events (sporting, school, cultural), hospital visitation, home visits (theirs and ours) and getting involved in the First Nations communities of Kahkewistahaw, Ochapowace, Cowessess, and Sakimay in as many creative ways as possible. Our first winter has been extremely cold and long but this is Saskatchewan! We love being back.

Thank you all for your tremendous help...encouragement...and support. You guys are fantastic.

Greetings  May 16 2010.

Thanks to all of you who prayed for us last week.

As I mentioned the father/son intervention went very well, as did the wedding.

Mother's Day Brunch went flawlessly, with four men (yes!) helping serve the Moms at Jacob Bear.

The wake service that evening, as well as the funeral on Monday went well, with Brig being the only officiant (he usually shares time with Native Elders).

The theme for the weekend was found in Phil.2:1-11, and Brig used it in a variety of ways to speak to the targeted group. Lk 5:17-26 found its way into his funeral reflection. His ashes will be spread tomorrow afternoon.

The son (mentioned in the intervention) just called and his 6-week old granddaughter just died.

Thanks for remembering us and the folks we're ever hopeful will respond to Jesus.

We love being here, serving, praying, and being your representatives.

June 10 2010

Greeting faithful friends,

I was off in Regina, visiting a friend in marital crisis...when I received a call from the Reserve.

The caller's 15 year old niece had committed suicide...did I know the name and numbers of some of their J.W. friends?

Yikes, couldn't say that I did, but I went to the Kingdom Hall (a first for this white man) to enlist their help to connect their people with my friend in need.

My friend in the marital crisis is doing exceptionally well. Amazingly well...

...but would you please pray for his wife? She is wandering and empty at this point.

I arrived home, dropped off the groceries and went to out to Kahk to visit with the grieving family (Chris was working at our local library, where she gets aprox. 8-10 hours/month). The family was very welcoming and they assured me that they'd like for us to do the wake service on Thursday evening and the Friday morning funeral.

We're living in exceptional times, pray for the teenagers that are reeling, families that are grieving, and for a pastor who longs for people to reach out to a Savior...who'll rock their worlds with peace, security, love, and forgiveness.

We are planning on "fleeing" to ND next week for 4 nights, to rest, shop, hike, and sight see (yes, there are things to see in ND!). Pray that it'd happen. Thanks.

Plodding along...

      ...Brig & Chris..

AUG 2010

Days like today don't happen very often in Indian Country.
God reminded me that today, He is in charge.
The realities of daily living and ministry on the Reserve Communities can often be frustratingly slow.
The hurts and angst are so prevalent for so many that our opportunities at service and for ministry seem to pale with the realities of life here.
But not today!
Today was both awesome and majestic!
Today, God reminded me that He is in control.
He is at work.
And your prayers are being answered.
27 years ago, I met 16 year old Charlie...
Today, I had the privilege of watching Charlie baptize 3 of his daughters, and than his wife was baptized by her Dad and then Charlie decided that he should be properly baptized himself (as a believer).
Today was a very good day to be a Christian in Indian Ministry in Broadview, Saskatchewan.
August 23rd will be our 30th wedding anniversary.
I made an amazing choice 30 years ago and the wonders and blessings continue...
Thank you all for allowing us the privilege of serving here...the highest calling indeed!
...Brig & Chris..
