Greetings May 16 2010. Thanks to all of you who prayed for us last week. As I mentioned the father/son intervention went very well, as did the wedding. Mother's Day Brunch went flawlessly, with four men (yes!) helping serve the Moms at Jacob Bear. The wake service that evening, as well as the funeral on Monday went well, with Brig being the only officiant (he usually shares time with Native Elders). The theme for the weekend was found in Phil.2:1-11, and Brig used it in a variety of ways to speak to the targeted group. Lk 5:17-26 found its way into his funeral reflection. His ashes will be spread tomorrow afternoon. The son (mentioned in the intervention) just called and his 6-week old granddaughter just died. Thanks for remembering us and the folks we're ever hopeful will respond to Jesus. We love being here, serving, praying, and being your representatives. ...Brig & Chris
June 10 2010
Greeting faithful friends, I was off in Regina, visiting a friend in marital crisis...when I received a call from the Reserve. The caller's 15 year old niece had committed suicide...did I know the name and numbers of some of their J.W. friends? Yikes, couldn't say that I did, but I went to the Kingdom Hall (a first for this white man) to enlist their help to connect their people with my friend in need. My friend in the marital crisis is doing exceptionally well. Amazingly well... ...but would you please pray for his wife? She is wandering and empty at this point. I arrived home, dropped off the groceries and went to out to Kahk to visit with the grieving family (Chris was working at our local library, where she gets aprox. 8-10 hours/month). The family was very welcoming and they assured me that they'd like for us to do the wake service on Thursday evening and the Friday morning funeral. We're living in exceptional times, pray for the teenagers that are reeling, families that are grieving, and for a pastor who longs for people to reach out to a Savior...who'll rock their worlds with peace, security, love, and forgiveness. We are planning on "fleeing" to ND next week for 4 nights, to rest, shop, hike, and sight see (yes, there are things to see in ND!). Pray that it'd happen. Thanks. Plodding along... ...Brig & Chris..
AUG 2010
Days like today don't happen very often in Indian Country.
