E. 100% are Islamic. Kano is one of Nigeria’s northern states which is governed by sharia, the Islamic legal code. All state schools are Islamic, and Christian children have no choice but to study Islamic subjects. Christians are treated as a second-class minority, and often the pressure to abandon Christ is intense. On a Friday in late August, nearly 2,000 children of different ages and from different regions across Kano state traveled to Gani to receive a Children’s Bible from Open Doors.
